Dear Hancock Park School Families:
We look forward to our continued productive partnership to ensure our children have all the support needed from home and school for successful learning.
Safety first, please. The Colgate Avenue parking lot is for STAFF ONLY. Please do not park or drive your car or walk children through the staff parking lot. Some street parking is available. Please read the posted parking signs carefully for restrictions. Your car may be towed or ticketed if you park in school driveways or red painted curb areas.
Join our Morning Drop-Off Program on Colgate Avenue (7:45 – 8:07am). Volunteers help children exit vehicles safely curbside and ask cars to keep moving west on Colgate Avenue. You will be assigned a specific date to participate in this safety program and you are encouraged to volunteer for extra dates. Please put safety first. Have students exit vehicles curbside, instead of crossing the street and refraining from doing a U-turn into the drop-off line. Thank you!
First Day of School: Tuesday, August 12, 2014* (Banked Time Day – 1:30pm Dismissal)
**NOTE: Students should bring lunch or money for lunch ($2.00). We also recommend a healthy snack. A successful school year starts with “good attendance”— children in class on time, the first day of school, and every school day.

Your child’s classroom assignment will be posted the first day of school and will be considered temporary. We may need to open a new class and/or re-organize classes. Significant review and thought are devoted to class organization to meet the needs of all students. We will not accept parent requests to change students’ classrooms. Thank you for your understanding.
First Day of School, Grades K – 5: Teachers meet students on playground at 8:07 am. Teachers carry signs with their names, grades and room numbers. Parents: please help locate your child’s name on the classroom assignment rosters posted in lunch pavilion, find their teacher(s), and line up when the bell rings. We recommend that parents visit or volunteer in classrooms the second week of school, after children have adapted to their daily routine.
